Minnesota’s Rice Lake Elementary School; Cooking Higher Quality MealsNew Port Richey, FL - Welbilt, Inc., a leading global supplier of commercial foodservice equipment, is proud to announce its Convotherm 4 combi oven has been producing high-quality breakfasts and lunches at the Rice Lake Elementary School in Lino Lakes, MN for the past six months. Hear Diane Quinzon, Foodservice Manager, talk about how Covotherm 4 combi ovens brought innovation to their school in the first episode of Welbilt Welcasts (info.welbilt.com/welbilt-welcast)
Rice Lake Elementary School serves breakfast and lunch to 400 students every day and needed to upgrade its existing kitchen equipment. The school looked for more versatile ovens that could produce consistent, high-quality meals, cook multiple items at once, and offer icon-based technology all with minimal service calls. The Convotherm 4 combi oven was the best solution to fit the needs of the school.
Diane Quinzon, Foodservice Manager at Rice Lake Elementary explained, “The icon-based technology makes it incredibly easy to learn and operate the oven. The ability to program the equipment to ensure proper cook times and temperature is simple, while delivering the same quality and consistently cooked meals. We are now able to steam rice and cook vegetables simultaneously. The capabilities of the equipment allow us to further our program in the future, as our school and other school systems are moving from prepared food to fresher options”.
Since receiving the new ovens in February 2017, Rice Lake Elementary School has served almost 50,000 meals. The school appreciates the user-friendliness of the new equipment and has been very pleased with how well the ovens are keeping up with production. In addition to high quality production, the new Welbilt ovens have also helped reduce the schools energy consumption with its Cook & Hold feature.
Quinzon continued, “Having ENERGY STAR® certified equipment was a large part of the consideration when purchasing the Convotherm combi oven. Our district is committed to energy savings and to buying ENERGY STAR certified equipment.”
