[ Eglfing, March 9th, 2010 ] Convotherm wins Gulfood Award for best Ecological Initiative
The new Convotherm ecoCooking mode, which was launched in the UK at Hotelympia, has won the Gulfood Award for the best ecological initiative. Manitowoc launched their new eco friendly Convotherm ovens at this years Hotelympia with great success, and this award is a testament to the significant energy savings that can now be achieved.
The new EcoCooking Mode has been designed to reduce energy usage by up to 25% and will be added as a standard to all easyTOUCH models from 2010. With increased energy prices continuing to burden commercial kitchens, the idea of saving 25% on energy consumption is a highly attractive prospect and an something that should not be ignored.
The operation system is quite simple as it is both easy and brilliant; the integrated Advanced Closed Systems keeps almost all the heat inside the chamber and does not allow it to escape while cooking. This new feature uses pre-programmed pulses of energy to maintain the required temperature, rather than keeping the power going throughout cooking. The food itself continues to cook by using the residual heat to prolong cooking and achieve the perfect result, even in the shortest amount of time.
This new feature not only saves energy, but actually improves the quality of many cooked food products such as roast meats, making them much more tender and reducing waste loss. |

[ Eglfing, February 22nd, 2010 ] All combi steamers of the mini world now come in series with the door handle “Hygienic Handle”
Beginning from April 2010 Convotherm will be equipping its mini combi steamers with the antibacterial door handle “Hygienic Handle”, the one which has already been successfully used with the +3 combi steamer series. This unique door handle is made of an innovative plastic material with embedded silver-ions. The antibacterial effect stays permanently unchanged and is medically and ecologically harmless. According to CONVOTHERM the hygienic handle is being manufactured in series and without extra charge.
The advantage is obvious. No bacteria or microbe transfer (e. g. salmonellae) from the door handle onto GN containers or plates. That makes working with the combi steamer especially sanitary. The hygienic handle is a further addition to sparing the environment since you don’t need aggressive chemical for cleaning.
Convotherm is going to present its novelty Hygienic Handle to the public at the Internorga trade fair in Hamburg (12 – 17 March 2010, hall A4 111). |

[ Eglfing, February 10th, 2010 ] The combi steamer to-go
The very first mobile combi steamer in 1/1 gastro norm size
The combi steamer manufacturer Convotherm Elektrogeräte GmbH extends its wide product range by one more appliance, called OES 6.10 mini mobile. Thanks to the integrated water tank you can use the mobile combi steamer even in the most deserted locations, where no water pipe hook up is at hand. With the 1/1 gastro norm version Convotherm completes its little brother of the size 2/3 gastro norm, which was built in 2008 and has since then been distributed very successfully
The OES 6.10 mini mobile combines the three features „smallest space“, „as much capacity as possible“ and „as much flexibility as possible“. You can fit six 40 mm 1/1 deep gastro norm containers into the new combi steamer. Its little dimension of 515 x 777 x 732 mm (WxDxH) as well as its little weight of only 67 kilos promise a great mobility. Thanks to easiest handling, the fully-fledged combi steamer gives recently semiskilled staff the possibility to work with it. One water tank lasts, depending on the cooking mode, between 2 and 12 hours and guarantees an optimal utilization away from the office.

[ Eglfing, February 10th, 2010 ] Convotherm defies economic crisis
The company Convotherm Elektrogeräte GmbH closed its business year with a turnover of over 60 billion Euros and about 18 billion US$ in the licence manufacturing USA on 31 December 2009. Despite of the worldwide economic crisis and decreases in turnover on the combi steamer market, the annual turnover of the previous year had not only been maintained but also the market share had been expanded even further.
According to CONVOTHERM’S CEO Frank Dittmann the success of the Bavarian enterprise bases upon three pillars: “First of all there is our extensive range of combi steamers, which offers the best benefit for every customer, second of all we have a worldwide service network and third of all we score with customer proximity through representatives in over 100 states in the world”.
Mr. Zeil, the Bavarian minister of economic affairs convinced himself of that by visiting the company in Eglfing. Zeil was visibly impressed: “I would have never guessed that such a precious company is based in Eglfing. You can feel the motivation of all employees and the positive flair in the company. It’s simply a great company which represents Bavaria worldwide”. |

[ Eglfing, 04 February 2010 ] CONVOTHERM is Uwe Micheel’s choice
The German combi steamer manufacturer CONVOTHERM is proud to announce the cooperation with Emirates Culinary Guild President Uwe Micheel.
Uwe Micheel, himself Director of Kitchens at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek, has chosen Convotherm combi steamers not only for his own kitchens but also to cooperate with the German company in his function as President of the Emirates Culinary Guild. This cooperation is based on a long-term commitment of CONVOTHERM to Chefs as Uwe Micheel.
