Chefs World congress WACS 2008 in Dubai
The congress of the world chefs association, shortly WACS (World Association of chefs’ Societies) takes place every two years. Almost all chefs associations are organized worldwide in this union. The 33rd congress was held in 2008 from 12 till 15 May in the Arabian Nights fairy tale country in Dubai. For the cooking competitions CONVOTHERM combi steamers from Germany were in use.
For a fairly long time a spirit of optimism has dominated in the desert country Dubai. Therefore it does not amaze that at invitation of the Emirates Culinary Guild – under the directions of their German president Uwe Micheel – chefs from over 70 countries had entered the desert emirate. One great organisation followed great competitions. At the WACS it does not only involve a congress but also two winners in the categories “WACS Global Challenge” and the renowned “Hans Bueschkens World Junior Chefs’ Challenge” were figured out. Among other things the participants had also the +3 combi steamers by CONVOTHERM on hand as their implement. Next to the multifunctional field of application both winners, Dutchman Toine Smulders and the American Keriann Von Raesfeld, especially knew how to appreciate the locally support by the CONVOTHERM team.
The close collaboration of the Emirates Culinary Guild with CONVOTHERM in the preparations to the WACS 2008 was very successful. The former head and current president emeritus of the WACS, Dr. Bill Gallagher, showed big spirit towards the great engagement and support through the company. That they bet on the +3 combi steamers by CONVOTHERM at the WACS militates in favour of the quality from Germany.
The next two big WACS congresses take place in 2010 in Chile and in 2012 in South Korea – of course with the CONVOTHERM technique again. |
